Where, how and when do I bring my material?

Where:

Your equipment is maintained at The Old Man South (Rijnstraat 205). You must also hand in and pick up the material here.

How:

All material must be handed in without bag and accessories. Snowboards are accepted without bindings. We can remove these for you on site and, if necessary, assemble them again when you pick them up.

When:

Depending on the conditions during winter sports, it is advisable to have maintenance done after about a week. When only fresh snow has been slid, the steel edges have suffered less than with icy conditions. At the end of the season with warmer temperatures, the snow is much wetter and absorbs much more at the base. Then it may even be that a new layer of wax is recommended after a few days.

If the base has turned white, this indicates that the base has dried out. No more grip with icy conditions and tried different binding positions (with a snowboard), then maintenance is required!

How does the magic happen?

Our highly experienced maintenance experts work with Wintersteiger equipment. A semi-automatic machine was chosen for maintenance of the base and sharpening of the steel edges. The consistency of a full-automatic combined with a manual finishing touch where necessary. Best of both worlds!

The Waxjet is used for hot waxing. With the aid of this device, an even layer of wax is applied while the base is heated at the same time. This process allows the base to absorb most of the wax. The base is then polished for a super smooth result.

Why do we do maintenance ourselves?

Where many shops choose to outsource maintenance, The Old Man chooses to do it themselves. This gives us control over the quality and the return time is much shorter. Maintenance has been done at The Old Man Center for many years. With the arrival of our branch The Old Man South in 2016, a workshop has been created to take quality to an even higher level. So if you are slipped past on a flat path or icy slopes, there is a good chance that they have been with us!
